That's because last month fans uncovered a LinkedIn profile that suggests a new PlayStation Studios Visual Arts team has been formed to collaborate with Naughty Dog on a beloved franchise.Īlthough no official source has confirmed the San Diego-based studio's existence yet, there's reason to believe that some of the rumors surrounding it are true. Depending on how recent insider rumors pan out, though, the franchise might be about to receive a new lease of life from a physical perspective as well. The Jak and Daxter series' legacy and influence have kept it alive in the minds of its creators and fans. Most recently, Jak and Daxter were included in the first wave of Mini PlayStation Nendoroid figures alongside the likes of Kratos and Ellie. Merchandise that features both characters, for example, frequently pops up on Sony’s Gear website. Although there’s been no brand-new game in the series for it to draw money from in some time, the duo are still having a positive impact on its profit margins. It appears as though Sony is aware of this phenomenon to some extent as well. Even without new entries, the series is technically still growing. Thanks to the series’ HD remasters, and their prominence within PS Plus Premium’s lineup, new players are getting to know the duo all the time. It was followed by Jak 3 the following year in 2004. It is the second game of the Jak and Daxter series and both a sequel and prequel to Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. More significantly on this front, though, is the timeless nature of the Jak and Daxter games themselves. Jak II a is an action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. In some respects, Insomniac Games’ ability to juggle Ratchet and Clank with its Marvel projects has helped to sustain those discussions. It’s easy to imagine these calls only growing louder as more time goes by.
